August is usually a transitional month for Indianapolis.  Summer fades, autumn arrives and so does football.  Although it may be depressing to some, Indianapolis has done a fantastic job of putting together  a stellar August of entertainment.  Check out the best things going on this month!  Keep in mind the futbol match between Chelsea and Inter Milan at Lucas Oil Stadium has already passed.  Otherwise, it definitely would have made it on the list.  What a great look for our city!

Football Is Back!

The Indianapolis Colts are back in action this month and will play two preseason games here in Indianapolis.  They will play the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, August 11th.  Their second home preseason game will be played against the Cleveland Browns on Saturday, August 24th.  This will be the first chance to see Andrew Luck, Reggie Wayne, and company before the start of the season, and at a reduced price.  Due to the unexpected level of success last year, ticket prices should remain high throughout this upcoming season.  So, get there early and get your first look for cheap!

Be Downtown August 15th – 18th

Downtown will be CROWDED this weekend as two very different events will converge on Indianapolis.  The Red Bull Indianapolis GP will take place this weekend.  This race, referred to as Moto GP by most locals, is a motorcycle race held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway each year.  Although it’s not as big as the Indy 500 or the Brickyard, the Moto GP still brings dollars, people, and entertainment to the Indianapolis area.  The other event that will be in Indy is the Gen Con, which is the longest-running and highest-attended gaming convention in the world.  So, if nothing else, come downtown this weekend for the people watching.  You will probably be sharing your favorite restaurant or bar with people dressed up as comic book characters, or world famous motorcycle racers, which is something you definitely don’t do often. .

Devour Downtown

Devour Downtown is the best restaurant event in Indianapolis by far.  If you’ve never been before, there is usually a summer session and a winter session.  During these “sessions”, which are usually a two week period, you can eat at all of your favorite restaurants downtown at reduced prices.  There are special menus developed by most all of the downtown restaurants that allow you to eat out affordably.  This event will run from August 19th through September 1st.  Please remember to book your table early as many of the best restaurants get booked quickly.  You can check out all of the menus and even reserve a table here.  Bon Appetit!
