September in Indianapolis brings cooler weather, football, festivals, and fun!  September may be the busiest month annually in the circle city, and for good reason.  The city is ablaze with fun things to do nearly every evening.  September offers Indy residents more cultural opportunities than any other month, as well as the great american past time of football.  We want to highlight some of the best things to do this month, and allow people the opportunity to get involved with these wonderful events.  Here are some of Indy’s best for the month of September….

Festivals

September 7th – Penrod Arts Fair – 9 am – 5 pm – Indianapolis Museum of Art

September 12th – 21st – Indy Jazz Fest – Various times and locations throughout the city

September 12th – 15th – Indianapolis Irish Fest- Military Park

September 14th – Indianapolis Sister Cities International Festival – 12 pm – 6 pm – Georgia Street

September 20th – Monument Circle Oktoberfest – 4 pm – 11 pm – Monument Circle

These are just a small portion of the festivals taking place this month, but are our favorite picks.  Keep in mind that there will be Oktoberfest gatherings throughout the city, but we like that this one is held downtown.  If you are on the Southside, German Park hosts a great Oktoberfest every year as well.  And, if you feel like getting out of town for a weekend, Cincinnati hosts the largest Oktoberfest in the world outside of Munich, Germany.  But, we recommend you stick around and enjoy Indy!

Football

Your Indianapolis Colts are back in action and ready to start the 2013 season this September.  The Colts kick off their season at home against the Oakland Raiders on September 8th.  They will play at home again the very next week against the Miami Dolphins on September 15th.  They are one of few NFL teams to have back-to-back home games to begin the season, so let’s get behind them and help the Colts start the season the right way before hitting the road.  Tickets are still available to both of these games and are actually two of the least expensive games on the schedule this year.

There is much more going on in Indianapolis this month but these are some of the best events worth highlighting.  There are a multitude of 5K’s to participate in, as well as musical performances by Michael Buble and Widespread Panic.  If you would like to read more about what is happening in Indianapolis this month, please follow this link.  This website will help outline more events and happenings around the Indianapolis area this September.  We hope you have a great month filled with much entertainment!
