In December of 2012, we developed our first internship program at Steffey Insurance. Being an alumnus of the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss), we reached out to their insurance and risk management school to help us find the perfect intern for us. Almost instantly, we were bombarded with emails inquiring about the internship opportunity and had 5 resumes in hand within the first 24 hours. Being as that we want this to be an annual occurrence, I thought it was important to post some information to our website regarding our internship.
Our (paid) internship is a 10-week summer program in which students, preferably entering their senior year at Ole Miss or another institution will be able to learn the daily workings of an independent insurance agency. This internship will provide the students with a glance into many different facets of day-to-day insurance agency operations including: agency management, life insurance, personal lines insurance, commercial lines insurance, agency marketing, sales, and more. This intern will receive hands on experience by shadowing and assisting producers throughout the 10-week period. The 2013 summer internship runs from June 3rd to August 9th.
IF YOU ARE A POTENTIAL CANDIDATE: Please keep in mind that this internship is NOT only limited to students at the University of Mississippi. If you are enrolled in a four year university and plan on majoring in risk management or another insurance related program, you’re more than welcome to apply.
